Grille (Muntin) Types and Characteristics
We offer three primary types of grilles, categorized as True Divided Light (Glasteilend) and False (Applied/Internal) types.
1. Internal Grille (Helima Grille)
-
Description: The grille is placed inside the space between the panes of the double or triple glazing.
-
Key Advantage: Easiest to clean as the glass surface remains continuous.
-
Grille Material: Typically available in Aluminum (though coated or foiled).
2. Applied Grille (Wiener Grille / Stick-On)
-
Description: A spacer bar is placed inside the glazing, and the grille elements are adhered to both the interior and exterior sides of the window pane. This creates the optical effect of a true division.
-
Key Advantage: Closest visual appearance to a True Divided Light window. Grille material options include Wood, Plastic, or Metal.
-
Note: Requires higher effort for window cleaning due to the raised elements on the glass.
3. True Divided Light Grille (Glasteilende Grille)
-
Description: This is the original construction where each section of the grille separates two individual small glass panes.
-
Key Advantage: Authentic, classic construction type. Grille material options include Wood, Plastic, or Composite.
-
Note: Requires higher effort for window cleaning and careful selection of glazing to maintain energy efficiency.
